Empire Welding have been a vital part of the Metronet (CPB/Downers JV) Project. Ben and his team have been involved with design, fabrication and construction of one of the critical path items for the TCL (Thornlie to Cockburn line) from start to finish, and construction of the BP KWOL Bridge trusses along with other items over the past 12 months.

Empire Welding have a number of options from onsite welding with a full experienced team, or detailed works with highly experienced welders and boilermakers.

When it comes to safety, Empire Welding works with our team to review, test and trial the plan over and over again until we are all comfortable we have eliminated the potential for harm to our workforce before we start out in the field. Construction milestones are always met and any issues are raised before they arise. Always great work Ben and Empire Welding.

Ben and his team at Empire Welding provided excellent quality work, in a short period of time for a pressure job. The whole process from quoting to delivery was seamless and fully supported by a comprehensive, quality MDR – I highly recommend Empire Welding as they have a true 360° view of the service they provide.

Empire Welding worked as a subcontractor to a company contracted to refurbish a bridge linking ASC’s Henderson (WA) maintenance workshop to an outside maintenance tower. The bridge is approx. 30m long and 10.5m above ground level.

The initial scope involved the removal of floor grating deck units and replacing them with dropped-object compatible grid mesh. However, after close inspection of the deck support angle, which was welded to the bridge superstructure, the scope was increased to include the angle’s full replacement due to excessive corrosion. Empire removed all the material and corrosion and supplied and fitted the new material in accordance with the structural engineer’s direction.

Empire Welding’s work was conducted efficiently and always within schedule. The team was well supervised, ensuring worker safety was always the priority. And the work quality was assessed by ASC and the structural engineer as very good, with the flatness of the new deck surface being within a few millimetres and well within tolerance.

Empire Welding played a major part in ensuring the project was delivered on time and without disruption to the Commonwealth of Australia’s submarine maintenance schedule. They were reactive to scope changes and focused on safety. I would recommend Empire Welding in any fabrication project work.
